Together we will achieve more.
Net zero carbon footprint by 2050.
Hertfordshire housing associations B3Living, settle and Watford Community Housing all share this ambition.
It’s essential that we make our homes both energy-efficient and cost-effective for our customers. But it will be a big challenge.
In discussion we all felt we would achieve much more if we worked together. So, we launched Greener Herts.
In late 2022, Greener Herts joined forces with Dacorum Borough Council to secure funding from the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).
On top of the £14 million awarded through the SHDF, B3Living, Dacorum Borough Council, settle and Watford Community Housing have made a combined pledge to invest a further £25 million in improving homes across Hertfordshire.

Where we’re going
Greener Herts is a combined effort, bringing our resources together to achieve more. We work by:
Bringing our customers into the conversation to make them key allies in the shift to become carbon neutral.
Exploring a range of joint projects to help us understand the environmental impact of our homes and make them more energy- efficient.
Sharing good practice and sustainable ways of working across the three partners.
Planning and measuring how much we have improved using the SHIFT accreditation model.
The UK’s homes emit more than all our cars combined, and the climate crisis cannot be solved without a coordinated effort to decarbonise housing.
Greener Herts represents more than 20,000 homes across Hertfordshire, so together we can make a real difference.
If you share our ambitions and offer a solution that can help us decarbonise our homes or operations, we want to hear from you.
